All about us!
As my namesake, David Byrne from Talking Heads, sang “And you may ask yourself, well how did I get here?”
Well, I got a “Once in a lifetime” opportunity to create DAB Cleaning, following a 20-year career working in the security industry, which ended with my role being made redundant in October 2020.
Having worked with many great clients and colleagues in this time, with some great memories and a wealth of experience from people management, health & safety, people and property security and much more – I felt this was literally a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to step into the world of self-employment and create a business that reflects my own values, gives great service to customers and helps solve their problems.
So it begins!
Following much research and nail biting, DAB Cleaning was created in October 2020 – with a lot of trepidation I set out into the scary world of self-employment, no more safety-net of a monthly pay packet – but with the freedom to create the business as I saw fit, getting some things right, and learning from those that didn’t go quite to plan!
With plenty of industry training, learning and networking, as well as the help and support of my friends and family, DAB Cleaning was launched!
I’ve overcome a number of obstacles so far… Setting up a service company during the uncertainty of Covid; working through multiple lockdowns; learning sales and marketing techniques; designing and launching this website and much, much more!
Values…
My aim with DAB Cleaning is first and foremost to offer a great service, treating customers and their property with respect, helping customers by solving their problems; from a dog pee stain on a lounge carpet through to keeping a rug with huge sentimental value looking tip top!
Initially I wanted to aim for the typical Carpet and Upholstery market, but as the business has developed, I’ve been able to add in hard floor cleaning (I love working on Yorkstone, Slate and other natural hard floors!) as well as adding Leather cleaning along with fabric sofa cleaning.
I genuinely enjoy what I do – and hopefully this comes across when we meet or talk. Yes, it’s hard work, but the satisfaction I get from giving customers the “wow” factor is always worth it!
Going back to Talking Heads, I do occasionally say to myself “My God, what have I done!”
Hopefully this gives you a little insight into my “Why” I do this – DAB Cleaning is currently providing floor cleaning services to both residential and commercial customers across the North West and West Yorkshire.
