Engineered Oak Floor Restoration, Norden, Rochdale
Introduction
We recently completed an engineered wood floor sanding and restoration project in Norden, Rochdale, carefully sanding the engineered oak floor back to bare timber before carrying out colour testing, staining and finishing to restore its natural warmth and character.
Rather than relying on a manufacturer’s sample card, we test stain colours directly on each client’s own floor. This allows them to see exactly how different shades will look under the lighting in their home before making a final decision.
The Process
Every engineered wood floor is different. Factors such as the timber, its age and any previous finishes can all influence how a stain develops. Although many people assume engineered flooring cannot be sanded, most quality engineered floors with a suitable wear layer can be professionally restored, helping to extend their lifespan and avoid the cost of replacement.
By creating sample areas on the floor itself, our clients can compare the options in the actual room and choose a finish with complete confidence.
Once the preferred shade had been selected, we sanded the floor back to bare timber using our dust-free Lagler PST® sanding system. Dust is captured at source throughout the sanding process, helping to keep the working area clean and minimising disruption elsewhere in the home.
The floor was then stained to achieve a warm, even tone before being finished with a durable protective topcoat, enhancing the natural beauty of the timber while providing long-lasting protection for everyday family life.
The Result
The completed floor has been completely transformed, with a rich, consistent colour that brings warmth and character back into the room. The carefully chosen stain complements the surrounding woodwork beautifully, creating a natural, cohesive finish throughout the space.
